Minecarts arrived in Infdev on 18 June 2010 as containers that couldn't be ridden, and on 24 June became rideable and lost their storage. From Alpha v1.0.14 a minecart was an ingredient in the recipes for the minecart with chest and the minecart with furnace. Beta 1.5 added powered rails, which move minecarts automatically, and detector rails, which detect them; Beta 1.6 ended "boosting", a glitch that sped up two carts running side by side.	`History, Java Edition Infdev, 20100618History, Java Edition Infdev, 20100624History, Java Edition Alpha v1.0.14History, Java Edition Beta 1.5History, Java Edition Beta 1.6, Test Build 3`	Wiki
Today powered rails speed up a minecart when they carry a redstone signal; without them a cart slows gradually, faster uphill, though it needs none to roll downhill. In the Java Edition minecarts pushed together merge and move as one, like a train, and keep their speed on straight track without powered rails.	`Usage, powered railsUsage, powered railsUsage, powered railsUsage, merging`	Wiki
