- Notes
- A 2024 retrospective arguing that the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, not Doki Doki Panic, is the real sequel. It quotes Howard Phillips on testing the game ("a leap of faith ... immediate death ... punishment"), says Phillips made the decision not to import it, and credits the quote to Jon Irwin's Boss Fight Books volume Super Mario Bros. 2 (2014), pp. 22-29. Read as a secondary account; the Phillips quotation is not from a period document here.
