Mega Drive/Genesis hardware

The NTSC Mega Drive/Genesis draws 59.9227 frames a second. Its VDP takes 3,420 master-clock ticks for each raster line, in both the H32 and the H40 mode, and an NTSC frame is normally 262 lines: 896,040 master clocks a frame. With MAME's NTSC master clock of 53.693175 MHz, that is exactly 3,579,545/59,736 frames a second (59.922743). MAME's driver sets its NTSC screen to the same rate, the master clock ÷ 10 ÷ 262 ÷ 342. genesis-hardware/frame-rate

Value: 59.9227434 frames/s

Kabuto's notes give the line length and line count from tests on the console; the master clock's frequency is cited here only from MAME's crystal constant, an emulator's value, so the claim stays a wiki-and-web T1. Not covered: interlaced mode, PAL consoles (313 lines, a 53.203424 MHz clock in MAME), and the "fast" H32 and H40 register combinations Kabuto lists, which shorten the line to 2,736 or 3,360 master clocks.
