- Licence
- MIT License, "Copyright (c) 2026 Metroid Prime Port contributors", covering "this project's own work only": the platform layer, build and packaging scripts, tests, tooling under tools/, and the documentation. It does NOT cover the game code: src/ and include/ are a recompilation of Metroid Prime (GM8E01, USA v1.00) from the retail executable, which the NOTICE says is Nintendo's. Anyone who got this repository has a working copy; the NOTICE doesn't assert permission to redistribute the game code. Aurora (extern/aurora) and MusyX (extern/musyx) are MIT licensed; button prompt icons from Kenney's Input Prompts (CC0).
- Credit
- A native build of Metroid Prime for Linux, Windows and Android (macOS experimental), compiled from the PrimeDecomp decompilation and rendered through Aurora (SDL3/WebGPU). No emulator, no game assets included: it reads game data from the player's own disc image.
- Notes
- The most active successor project after PrimeDecomp/prime was deleted; the porting fork of the decomp, created 2026-09-19, releases v0.1.0 (27 Sep) through v0.32.0 (22 Oct). Supported discs: GameCube USA 1.00, 1.01, 1.02 (GM8E01) and PAL (GM8P01). Its own master (83c1aa9, 2026-09-19) and the default `port` branch (b344e97, 2026-10-22). The README's "upstream" section calls it a fork of the PrimeDecomp/prime decompilation. This is the repo other community ports fork from (MetroidPrimePortVR, mpo_nx, etc.). The GitLab project FermataRest/MetroidPrimePort mirrors it.
