Alblaka described IndustrialCraft as a mod that adds blocks, items and devices "to advance the industrial aspect of Minecraft": better furnaces, new fuels, and electric energy. He wrote that for him the main point of Minecraft was mining and crafting, and that the mod enhances both.	`opening post, "What's this?"`	Dev blog
Alblaka called IndustrialCraft a "Tier 2 Mod": almost none of its blocks, items and recipes can be used at the start of a new world, and they take a good amount of resources. Its new tin and copper ores appear only in newly generated chunks.	`opening post, "What's this?"`	Dev blog
