Final Fantasy V reached the United States in Final Fantasy Anthology, which paired it with Final Fantasy VI on the PlayStation; Square Electronic Arts' page said it had never been released in the U.S. before. Andrew Vestal's GameSpot review of 14 October 1999 said the game had finally reached the States after being announced and canceled for a US release at least three times, and that two fan translations had appeared since its "original nonrelease in 1993".	`review, opening paragraphsreview, opening paragraphsreview, on the translation`	Publisher
Vestal found the story weak, with paper-thin characters and a clichéd plot, and the official translation poor, but called the job system one of the series' most in-depth: each character can take one of 22 jobs, and an ability earned in one job can be used in another, so a Knight with the Ninja's ability to equip two swords can wield a heavy sword in each hand.	`review, on Final Fantasy Vreview, on Final Fantasy Vreview, on Final Fantasy V`	Web
