Screen shake
The view jolts for a few frames to show an impact, a stomp, or an explosion.
Screen shake moves the view back and forth for a short time to give weight to an impact. A common way to do it is to add offsets from a short table to the scroll position each frame while a timer runs. Some games also freeze or stun the player while the screen shakes.
